Storybox Playlist: For the Love of Books
“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” — Ernest Hemingway
Books. It is one of life's great pleasures to sit on a lazy afternoon with your favorite beverage by your side reading a great book. Or to snuggle with your little ones and read their favorite picture books as they ooh and ahh for the hundredth time, wanting to hear the story again and again with endless enthusiasm.
Then there is the moment when you watch your child light the flame of the everlasting book candle. That is an exciting moment, indeed. When reading really sinks in, they find a story, a character, or a genre they love and cannot get enough of it. They read through a knee-high stack of books in a week, they become best friends with the librarian, and sometimes you have to remind them to put the book down, get up, and go outside. This week we are all about encouraging a love of books. We have many stories that talk about the power of stories and specfically the written word. Join us in exploring five stories that will surely spark a love of books in your house.
