How to Build a Nest: A Story of Different Family Models
When Martin and Sylvia invite their friends Griffin and Sofia over for a summer playdate, Momma suggests that the four children join her to do some "field work” by studying some nearby robin's nests. They have lots of questions about birds, nests, and how bird families work together. In the course of their study, they begin to learn about how different families function, whether they are birds or humans. There are so many ways to build a nest — and so many ways to build a home.
NOTE: This story is especially good for families who wish to explore the idea of alternative family models, including single parents, extended families, and same-sex parents.
