Storybox Playlist: Stories About Strong Girls Like You
This week, we have put together a playlist of stories about strong girls. Through these stories, your little ones will hear different examples of what it means to be strong. Why are we creating this list? One of our favorite podcasts, Girl Tales, states it perfectly:
“When girls take center stage, all kids are empowered to be the hero in their own story.”
Storytelling is so powerful because it gives kids an opportunity to learn, explore, and grow while also using their imaginations. In this way, they are able to learn more about themselves and more about the world around them.
This impact is strongest when children are able to see themselves reflected in the stories they read or hear. Storytelling is their language! For much of history, this representation has been unbalanced.
So this week, we are focusing on tales that feature and amplify the stories of female characters. Some of them are loud, some are soft, some are bold, some are reserved — but they are all strong and their stories are all important. And they all send the same message to children: Here are stories about girls like YOU.
