Nine Easy Sparkle Crafts to Get the Summer Started
Summer crafts are some of my favorites. With days wide open without lesson time or school, there is plenty of time to explore new crafts. At Sparkle, we've got so many crafts it's hard to choose! But I've rounded up nine of my favorites that I hope will bring your kids lots of fun again and again throughout the summer.
Puppet Theater
This theater uses recycled materials and any art supplies you have lying around the house. Use it inside or outside to act out your favorite Sparkle story or fairy tale. The kids will keep coming back to it all summer long.
Three Paper Airplanes
What kid hasn't made a paper airplane? Maybe even by accident? These three types of paper airplanes will keep your kids busy with folding and flying. It may inspire them to learn more about flight or start up a neighborhood paper airplane contest.
Friendship Bracelets
Any kid who has ever been to summer camp or day camp has learned to make a friendship bracelet. They look fancy but are super-easy to make and can be customized to each individual's liking. If you haven't been to a camp, no worries — our tutorial will show how to make them!
Whether you are at the ocean, on the shore of a lake, or on the banks of river or creek, these beach mandalas can be a really fun way to make some nature art. All you need are the nature treasures all around you.
Lemonade Stand Bunting
Summertime means cold drinks, and cold drinks lead to lemonade stands. If your kiddos are interested in making a lemonade stand we have just the sign to help them make it welcoming.
Painted Story Seashells
If you are lucky enough to visit the beach this summer, you'll probably come home with lots of seashells. Here is a great way to turn them into something more than just decoration. Make them into "storyshells" and use them to create your own stories. Maybe they will even inspire a puppet show!
Sunny Leaf Art
Today is the summer solstice, and that means lots and lots of sun. Hopefully it is sunny where you are because this solar paper is so much fun to play with. Don't hesitate to really get creative!
Pool Noodle Sprinkler
In the desert, it's hot and dry in the month of June. These pool noodle sprinklers can be placed anywhere convenient in the grass or on the driveway and makes a very fun way to cool off.
Soap Boat Races
This activity is really fun. It needs minimal materials and can be enjoyed all summer long. Try getting two pieces of gutter and race two boats at the same time.
