Friday's Kind Words: Beyond Measure
I am going to venture a guess that your table is full of exciting energy from campers and dizzying operational elements as camp hits the later stages. I just wanted to offered a brief word of gratitude.
The work you and your team are doing is beyond measure. You are fully open to the power of this classroom platform and your ability to teach far beyond the bounds of a classroom wall. I continue to be taken aback by the gift of your mentoring of my girls and witness to revelations I see within them. Your rare and honed vision of the four steps. Your keen sense of how to nurture while also positively instigating is incredible.
I continue to think ,"What if we did not have this experience in our family?" This is a power placeholder of our time, energy, and direction. I am stingy with what we engage in, feeling our family can be overburdened with too many demands. In the summertime I am overly hesitant to commit to time demands, wanting our time to be fluid and quiet. There have been moments we put camp down as an activity because it felt forced with what was happening. It runs in the back of our minds though and drops into our conversations in a natural way. When we are active, it is downright electric to allow your elevated lens of observation to be the vehicle I use to sculpt my view of the girls. The power of parent observation is not something you address as your audience is the children. It is an unspoken and enormous gift, though. This will help your teachings resonate well beyond the confines of summer camp. In fact, to steal Ella's use of ripple ... I am hoping it continues well beyond my parenting and into their own parenting and beyond.
So a moment of energy and encouragement to you and everyone on your training team.
With deepest gratitude, Dena
