Crafting the Holidays: Needle-Felted Matchbox with Toymaking Magic
This season of lanterns, candles, and twinkle lights is upon us. Some of us are filling up our calendars with festivals and parties, some of us are thinking about baking and decorating, and some of us are embracing the longer nights and the allure of staying cozy at home. It's so easy to cram our days with exciting (and fun!) activities, but we know from experience that carving out some slow time for creativity will help us thrive in the holiday season. We have a number of ideas to suggest for those sweet, quiet moments — and this is the third!
On the twelfth day of the Martin & Sylvia's Audio Advent Calendar, Martin takes stock of the gifts he is making his family for Christmas. He realizes he'd like to make one more thing for Sylvia and visits the Spunderful Shop with Momma for wooly supplies.
You'd find the materials you need for this project at the Spunderful Shop, too! Jessica at Toymaking Magic shares a video tutorial for making a needle felted matchbox cover. She and her sons make these beautiful handmade gifts for loved ones.
This is a project for older kids, like Martin, who are able to manage the sharp needle. We'll be making some to give to grandparents, close neighbors, and maybe even to tuck into Momma's stocking.
