Hand-Dyed Playsilks
Imagination is a beautiful, wonderful thing. With a bit of creativity and a few simple tools, you can do virtually anything! Inspired by the Martin & Sylvia: Saturdays! story “Super Silks,” this fun little DIY dress-up idea will equip your child with the tools to become whatever they want to be this Halloween (and beyond)! If you need a little push, here are some ideas you can use with your silks or any other fabric: wings, a crown, a skirt, a headdress, a cape, a decorative sash, and a tunic. See what else you can make by downloading this printable here.

Quick, Low-Sew Wings
These quick and easy, low-sew wings take just the tiniest bit of very basic sewing — hence the “low-sew” designation — and most of the heavy lifting is done by the one big knot you'll tie in the center of the fabric. If you can tie your shoes, you can do this!

Magician's Cloak
Inspired by Septimo the Magician in the By Thistle By Thimble story “The Trick and the Treat,” this cloak only requires basic sewing skills but using contrasting fabric makes it a little more fancy. Whether you're costuming a magician or a princess, a witch or a king, this cloak is versatile enough to have your trick-or-treater covered. A magic cloak, indeed!
