Sparkle Weekly Wonderings: Things to do instead of screens

We’ve been talking about screens for a while now. And by “we” I mean anyone who has children. Once upon a time it was called “TV time” then “Computer time” was added. Now it is screen time because we could be talking about TV, computer, phone, tablet, watch, music player, car, billboards, and on and on. Screens are indeed, everywhere.

So whether we like that or not, “Screen Time” is a topic of either conversation or negotiation in most households. Not only how much but what kind. Hand held screen time is different than wall mounted screen time. Waiting room screen time is different than Family room screen time. Earphone screen time is different than car speaker screen time. So many conversations and so many variations.

This is why this week we are going to talk about “Screen Time” by not talking about it. Instead, we are going to talk about what else children can do - what games, activities, entertainment and fun can be had that does NOT include screens.

We hope our collection of Sparkle Summertime activities helps you launch a Screen Light and Fun Heavy Summer!
